London ~ Brighton Kit & Sports Car Run

Mercedes-Benz World

A Run for all Kit, Replica and Sports Cars

THE FIRST LONDON ~ BRIGHTON KIT CAR RUN in 2001 attracted over 200 kit, replica and sports cars from across the UK, and is now an established highlight in the kit car calendar.

Organised by Greenwood Exhibitions, who have been running the London ~ Brighton Classic Car Run for the past 20 years, the event is a memorable day out, ending on Madeira Drive, Brighton’s famous seafront road, which is closed to non-run traffic.

The run is a touring assembly attracting cars from all over the UK.  With a fully detailed “tulip” style road book, entrants drive at their own pace through picturesque villages and along unspoilt country roads to the official stopping point, Amberley Museum.  After a relaxing break, perhaps a picnic or lunch in the restaurant, entrants continue their scenic route to Brighton.  A different route every year gives drivers the chance to explore some of Southern England's finest scenery at their own pace with fellow enthusiasts.

Greeted by our commentator and up to 20,000 spectators, the run joins the Classic Run, who have been on a different route, on Brighton’s famous seafront road, Madeira Drive, where the atmosphere is electric.

The Start

Inside Mercedes-Benz World.

The 20th run starts from Mercedes-Benz World Museum, Brooklands, Surrey, easily reached from the M25, M3 & A3.  Cars gather outside the entrance to this futuristic building, where they are ceremoniously waved off with the Union Jack.  The museum displays old and modern Mercedes and the whole building, complete with modern facilities, will be open for you to explore before being starting the run.  We have appointed a photographer and copies will be available to order.  For those wishing to enjoy a leisurely weekend we have reserved rooms at a nearby hotel (limited numbers).   Please tick on Application Form for hotel booking form.

The Route

A new route is devised every year giving entrants the chance to discover the beautiful villages and unfamiliar picturesque country roads in this delightful area of Southern England.

Stopping Point

Our official stopping point is Amberley Working Museum, a 36 acre open air museum set in the heart of the South Downs.  Dedicated to the industrial heritage of the South East, it contains a wide range of exhibits, from transport based collections such as the Southdown bus collection and village garage, to industry based exhibits.  There are a number of resident crafts people, still using traditional working methods.  After a relaxing break, perhaps a picnic or lunch in the restaurant, entrants continue their scenic route to Brighton.

Madeira Drive, BrightonThe Finish

Arriving in Brighton from midday onwards the participating cars make a spectacular display on the picturesque seafront road Madeira Drive, which is closed to non- event traffic for the day. They are joined on Madeira Drive by the Classic Car Run who have reached Brighton by their own different route. Traders set up their stands underneath the arches and a top motoring journalist provides an entertaining & informative commentary for the participants & around 20,000 spectators.
